Plane lovers and others...
« on: October 04, 2003, 01:30:01 PM »
I took this video appropriately on Sept. 11, 2003. It's a small section of what is a 20min. finished video documenting the YHM ramp in Hamilton Ontario.

So in keeping with the aviation theamed banner, which I think is great, I present this  VIDEO. It's not of great quality because I wanted to keep it small, I managed to get it down to less than 1MB.

Enjoy!

Pretty neat "band" you assembled there in your garage for this production, kps B)

Say, where did you get hold of our olde TV? Did you buy that at our garage sale in, oh, 'bout 1964?

Hey, I got a popup window saying "Quicktime is missing software that is required to complete this operation. Unfortunately it is not available on the Quicktime server."

 huh.gif    ohmy.gif  huh.gif

I downloaded the movie file and tried to play it with my Quicktime 5 Pro but I got a message saying the required compressor was not available.

OK, what compressor? Is this only playable with QT 6?

Hey me too! Must be QT 6 only. I tried IE 5.1.7, Netscape 7.02 and Netscape 4.7, just a blank screen. Thinking.gif  verysad.gif

Sorry folks, yes it's MPEG 4 so QT 6 is needed. Again, I wanted to compress it to a decent size for dialup users.

OK, kps, I can understand that... smile.gif I have upgraded from QT5 to QT6 because I'm really sure I'll have an appreciable gain. When I went from v4 to v5 on the Lombard it didn't play a lot of the new QT5 stuff very, afraid the same thing might happen on the Pismo with QT6... I never could figure it out except that the Lombard is 333MHz and the Pismo is 400MHz.

Unfortunately, DB, I can't tell you how well it'll run on either, the Lombard or Pismo.

I did make another version of the same 3min clip that should play in QT 5, but it's much, much larger, both in  screen size and megabytes...3.8 MBs to be exact. Better to have DSL or cable for this one.

Large Version

Yeah, I dunno about it either... I heard somewhere that some Lombards had problems with video acceralation which is sure what it looked like to me, but I decided for the Pismo to "save my nerves" and make do with QT5... smile.gif

I was able to see this bigger version of the movie, I'm on cable so it streamed nicely... very cool!  thumbup.gif
I like it... ya done good!!...  thanx.gif

I really liked the part where Schwarzenegger goosed the stewardesses . . .

I couldn't get it up and running - not on Red Hat 8 (Linux), despite downloading quicktime4linux and quicktimelinux.

Wasn't about to put out $35 to do a Crossover plug-in - that's a little rich for my blood.

Gave up and tried my Mac - nuthin' doin'.

Then downloaded Quicktime 6.0.3 on the Mac.

MacOS 8.6.   Loaded easily.

Worked fine on Mozilla 1.2.1.

Both versions of the video work fine on the Mac - more visual detail and different sound quality in the latter (more highs).

What is fun, though, is running both of them *simultaneously*

I thought that one or the other sound track would go silent, but instead both sound tracks run simultaneously, though not in synch.

Kinda a discordant melody/countermelody rounding effect.

But not double the volume.

Sounds kinda how a mouse feels when it has just set off a mouse-trap.

Enjoyed the movie(s) -

Sorry to put some of you through the hastles. Unfortunately, all I got to work with is iMovie and it's limited as to export formats. I'm kind of stuck...I either make it more compatible (but larger) or less compatible and smaller. wallbash.gif

I'm consoled by the fact that those of you that went through those hastles, enjoyed the clip. Thanx.  smile.gif

WOW! jawdrop.gif Great editing! How long did it take to get the marshaller to get the correct ryhthm?! Too bad the loader got in the way at the end.

BTW, what kind of aircraft was that!  doh.gif Are 'they' still flying '27's?!

Thanks for the memories!

(I must admit I was somewhat disturbed at first, thinking you had called me a 'plain' lover!) blush-anim-cl.gif  eek2.gif

I also got a warning about not having some QT dodad. Didn't seem to make any difference, though...
