We were lucky with the weather tonight so we did manage to see the lunar eclips. Tried to take a few pictures with my new Coolpix 5700. For being a simple camera I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Petra, that is gorgeous! I watched it here for quite awhile too, and it was very clear. My pictures didn't turn out at all, due I guess to all the city lights around me .

Have you guys noticed the different angle of the moon btw? I just noticed that when I saw some pictures taken from the States, the crater that almost looks like a navel on the lower left side is on the lower right side in your part of the world. Pretty cool huh?

Here's a picture my friend took, he had some real serious stuff (a Nikon DSLR plus 1600 mm lens)

Great pics Petra!

I was at a birthday party all day and evening in Appleton, WI. USA. I took your image and
rotated it the way it looked here in WI. Temperature was around 8ºF....-13.3ºC and no wind and not a cloud in the sky...a beautiful night...so quiet you could here a pin drop. It was out in the country far from any city lights.

Wow, Your pictures are wonderful! We also had clear, cold, and windless night here in NE USA, and I was able to see it too. Looked almost as if I could reach out and grab the moon, it was so clear here.
No city lights around here, but I decided not to try to photo it, as with my little lens, I knew I couldn't do it justice.
So the dog and I kept walking out in the yard every 10 minutes or so.
Thanks for posting your great pictures, my husband slept thru the eclipse, and he can see it right here on my screen.
He says thanks too.

Great pictures! We watched the eclipse with Danny and his family in a neighborhood park. Rich didn't take pictures although it was very dark there and we had a perfect view. He has a Nikon 4300 but didn't think pictures would come out. Petra and Greg, how were these pictures shot?
