Amazing, absolutely amazing.

They span the whole range of recent human conflict. I hope he recovers fully and continues to provide the world with such powerful images.

Thanks for the link.

Bummer!

I tried three different browsers and none of them work on that site.

(edit)

I found that doing a Google search for James Nachtwey got me to the site and it works. Incredible photography!

How many photographers died in Viet Nam?

Was it in the 40-60 range?

I really should not forget.

Bruce -

Same problem here conjurin' up the site..

It initially defeated browsers X4 in two different OSs on two different machines.

I think my problem may have been the original posted url rather than the site, itself.

If anyone has trouble accessing the original url, you might try:

http://www.jamesnachtwey.com

But, unfortunately, that may diminish what Thomas was seeking to accomplish via the originally proferred link.

Oh, well.

Thomas,

Thank you for the link.

A perilous trade.

Me?

I think I'll stick with pictures of friends and pets and boats and family.  :-)

Keep your head down -

To view the slide show remove 01 and replace it with 02
http://www.jamesnachtwey.com/slideshow/slide01.html

http://www.jamesnachtwey.com/slideshow/slide02.html

Then the show will begin...... but be prepaired, some of this stuff is ........ well, it's not easy on the heart.

We have shared the incommunicable experience of war,

We have felt, we still feel the passion of life to its top.

In our youths, our hearts were touched by fire–

My apologies to all for my clumsiness with the link.

I've met Nachtwey; he's a soft-spoken, unassuming guy, quite unlike the usual portrayal of photogs in his profession.

And, considering his time spent in active combat zones (probably more than 99% of the active members of the US military), it's remarkable that this is the first time he's been seriously hurt.
