TS User Tips for using Safari
« on: December 13, 2003, 09:39:20 AM »
I have found it uncomfortable using Safari as my internet browser on OSX.

Some of the reasons are that the shortcuts are different than what I'm used to in Netscape, bookmarks seem to always be in the task bar instead of in the main menu and it's tabbed windows seem to work different than Netscape. As I said before, I'm just uncomfortable using it so I keep going back to Netscape.

The purpose of this thread is to possibly glean some info from TS members who use it on a regular basis, and like it, to pick up some tips, prefs, etc.

Also feel free to highjack the thread and put whatever you want in it about other browsers or anything else for that matter....... laugh.gif

I don't know Gary. I introduced Jag to my brother and his new 'puter and he was an IE man. Now he dumped IE for Safari.
I myself use Camino for my main browser because on my slow dialup it loads faster.
The old story ... each is own.

I don't use the tabs.. I prefer to command-click for new windows, so I've got tabbed browsing off.

Also holding down command while selectign ANY bookmark will open it in a new window. IE doesn't do that for bookmarks.

In the preferences for Autofill you can let Safari remmber user names and passwords. This is a HUGE advantage in my opinion. I don't have ot remember every username and password, Safari does.
