Sharing HP 2210 in Panther - Grrrr
« on: January 29, 2004, 01:15:09 AM »
Need suggestions:
I have upgraded both my PowerBook and 17in iMac to Panther (v10.3.2).

The PowerBook is on Airport (normal, not Extreme), and the iMac is on ethernet.

The HP 2210 all-in-one is connected directly to the iMac via USB, and Printer Sharing is ON in the iMac's Preferences. Printer Sharing is off on the PowerBook.

The latest HP printer software (v7.1.4) is installed on both computers.

AppleTalk is on in both computers.

From the PowerBook I can see all volumes of the iMac and share files just fine.

If I try to print from the PowerBook, the Printer Utility shows that the printer is STOPPED, and the button to un-stop it is greyed (unavailable).

I can print directly from the iMac, and if I connect the printer directly to the PowerBook, it prints fine, as well

Previously, with Jaquar and the same physical configuration, I could print from the PowerBook just fine.

I'm aware of previous threads about similar problems, but not exactly this problem.

I posted this question on Apple's printer & faxing forum (http://discussions.info.apple.com). One response was that Panther is culprit: something that worked in Jaquar is broken in Panther.

Suggestions, PLEASE!!!
