Went to Cosco yesterday and saw the
Epson CX5200 USB at a killer price...$250 CND, which translates to about $135 USD. I was looking to replace my aging Stylus 740, Microtek E3 scanner and this fit the bill.
I've been testing it out and I'm completely satisfied even though all the drivers and functionality have not been updated for Jaguar. Okay, it's missing the "one button" scan feature and "Scan to File".
Otherwise, scanning works fine from Photoshop 7 with the 5.72A TWAIN driver which ships with the product. Grab is supported, although I haven't tried it. Epson has updated the TWAIN driver to 5.75A, which I have just installed. Printer drivers work fine, as expected.
This unit also uses separate color ink cartridges, which can be replaced as needed.
Contrary to C|net, the scanner/copy bed is US Letter/A4 size only, so if you need to copy or scan Legal size docs, it won't do.
If anyone is looking for an All-in-One unit, I'd say have a look at this one.
