Importing Favorites

My IE is simply not working anymore, I'm having freeze after freeze. I have Netscape but my favorites are in IE, I've imported before but I can't remember how. I need help! Anyone have any idea what would cause these freezes, even my own site is freezing me.

Which NS version?

Which OS version?

IF you can use the new NS 7.0.x with your OS, I'm guessing it willl bring a happier result. It is true that it's waaaay faster and more stable than its predecessors.

OTOH, if you haven't done some "heavy" maintenance (just kidding!) on your OS recently, that might account fort some of your difficulty(ies). (Check your e-mail.)

With respect to importing Favolrites into Bookmarks, all you need to do is to save your roster of favorites in an dot/html file, then go to the appropriaste roster in your NS, and Import.

Piece of cake . . . except, as I recall, NS doesn't really sort out duplicates during the importing, so that you will have to accomplish that task by hand.

I once had problems with my ie favorits to (not sure why anymore).
But i found that there is another way to do it, but it's not the most enjoyable work to do.
OsX: home directory/library/preferences/explorer/favorits.html <----
Os9: system folder/preferences/explorer/favorits.html <----
Copy this file, drop it on any browser window and you will see a html page listing all your bookmarks and how the folders were called that hold them.
It's no joy, but starting fromt his one, you can add your bookmarks again in the browser you like to use.

Actually, i hope you don't need to use this hint

I too have a nasty IE 5.1.6 problem under OS 9.2.2. Frequently, my system locks up and when I fianlly rebot I have two items in the trash under Rescued Items":

  Download Cache
ik.Cache (I am not sure of the exact file name)

It appears something is happening that IE locks up my system. This happens even if IE is not running.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
MamaMoose

Just IE being IE.

When you have a Freeze in IE and have to quit it or Reboot:

Manually throw the MS Internet Cache in the trash before you relaunch it.

Try running Microsoft Internet Self-Repair

Just put up with it or use another browser.
