Another reason to love a Mac!
« on: March 23, 2003, 02:38:00 PM »
Some of you know our church is in a building phase right now. The Pastor has asked me a couple of times to create a 'slide show' that could be viewed by members who can't get by the construction site and don't have web access. No problem, I've got a Mac!

The biggest problem has always been getting a video projector. They are too expensive to buy right now (consultant is recommending 2 Sharp models - 4000 lumens and more than twice that much cash each!). Anyway, we either 'borrow' one from some members company or from the local association. That one was built back in 1947, I think, just after TV became wide spread!      It weighs more than an old iMac! But it has some great features, including the ability to tilt the lens itself instead of proping stuff under the front to get the image higher on the wall/screen. But I have never been able to find the controls for correcting the 'keystone' effect. That's when I realized I could probably fix that on my own monitor - and I did, quite easily, of course.

So, I'm readjusting things this afternoon and, by accident, discovered that if the cursor is placed over the 'screen' in the Monitors CP, it becomes a Hand. Being the astute user that I am, I figured there must be a reason for that!      Sure enough, when the 'hand' is present, you can click and hold to move/adjust whatever part of the screen you may need to. You don't have to click on the tiny buttons for each function! I contend that only Apple would have thought of this interface enhancement. Just another example of little details that make using a Mac easier!

I'm probably the last one in the world to find this capability!      And it's not a make or break factor, but it might be a nice detail to show your PC friends.
