I am not sure which one of our Administrators/Executive Committee members first let the secret out, but based on all the email I have received in the past few days, the "Secret" is now public information. Upon advice of our legal department (when faced with getting caught with the truth): "It's best to admit the situation, confess involvement, and beg forgiveness."
Here goes. As you may know, crowds attract even more crowds. And activity begets even more activity. So when TechSurvivors was first created, we wanted to stimulate membership and participation. After all, who is going to post on yet another unheard of help site that is only viewed by a few?
After a bit of discussion, the idea arose to create a pet persona - an interesting and MacLovable character that all may enjoy. At first we named this person Barney, after the purple cartoon character. We subsequently concluded that was too obvious.
Some may have already guessed it, but for those who have not, Bernie (formerly Barney) does not really exist (except in cyber space). Bernie is just another screen name that MamaMoose uses when she feels like it.
Please understand. We meant no harm.
