Downloaded 10.2.2 from Apple
« on: February 05, 2003, 11:12:00 PM »
Now that I have that installed does this mean I have Jaguar? I am not clear on whether 10.2.2 update was Jaguar or just a "fragment" of Jaguar.

In order to have all that Jaguar offers, do I need to buy the $129 Jaguar CD from Apple?

What you have downloaded is an update to the 10.2 version of the OS...which needs to be purchased. Jaguar is not a free upgrade.

BTW, the current version is 10.2.3

Welcome to TS, hypernomore.

What OS version did you start with? The 10.2.2 update won't install unless you already have some flavor of Jaguar (10.2.x). It won't, for instance install over 10.1.5.

Thanks for the replies. I bought the iBook with 10.2.1 installed.
An Apple Store employee told me after I posed the same question that if I have iChat, I have Jaguar. Well I do, but I am not convinced I have it all. Hoping you folks can help.

Okay, your iBook came with Jaguar v. 10.2.1, what you want is to update it to 10.2.3 to be current.

You should have no problems updating the system to 10.2.2 by running the file you downloaded.

When you're done, open the System Preferences and click on the Software Update utility. This will find the 10.2.3 updater on Apple's Software site, it will download it for you, install it for you...and you're up-to-date.

Hello hypernomore. Welcome to the Forum.

To reiterate. Yes you have Jaguar. Jaguar is version 10.2 and above of OS X.

Thanks Kelly.  One more question if I may regarding Jaguar. The same Apple Store employee told me when I asked why I didn't see the application "Inkwell"; he said, "When you plug in a tablet, Inkwell will come up. True or False?

I'm not Kelly but to answer your question about "Inkwell", yes you need to plug in a tablet.
