Well at least my logic board and I'm not paying what they're asking for a new one. I must say I'm disappointed and it looks like I may be going the Windows way.. sorry Vijay!!

Yeah, I'd be interested to know what kind of box it is.

You can contact me off site if you'd like.

Thanks.

Well to be honest to without the comp to check I don't know the specifics. It's an Imac about 3 yrs old, 350mhz, 256 ram, I'm not sure what else. Its still in the shop with no logic board in site anywhere, unless I buy a new one which I won't.

Rascal,

I was more wondering if you were looking to get rid of it, and if so, how much?

I can't say for sure that I'd even be able to do anything on it right now, but was curious to see what you had in mind.

Take care.

I haven't really thought of selling it. I'm hoping maybe down the road some logic board will magically appear and I can get the stuff from my hard drive.. I know.. keep dreaming!

Rascal, if you're looking at replacing the iMac (and you are right, replacing the logic board would cost as much as buying a whole 'nother 350 on eBay), you might want to consider some of the great deals you can get on a refurbed eMac, like this one:

http://www.smalldog.com/product/42628

G4, larger monitor than the iMac you have and comes with a combo drive (so you can burn CD's) and OS X. It's 10.1 though - so you do need to ask them if if qualifies for the Apple update program that allows you to buy Jaguar for $19.99.

Just in case we can persuade you not to go over to the dark side...

The thing is my comp doesn't seem to be on the priority list, it's been more than 2 weeks and I'm still getting a "have patience" reply and that he's "been very busy". I'm not waiting forever, it could be weeks before something is located for me. I have taken down teh address for the microdoc, I'll pass it on.. thanks.

Omg Rascal, sorry to read this
Exactly same thing happened on my iMac, the logicboard died.
Can i ask you something?
You didn't tried to install Jaguar by any chance?
It's probably a stupid thought but...
Jaguar has problems on iMacs 350, 400 (DVSE's) which might crash their logicboards.
It can be solved if you first upgrade the firmware
I myself had to find out the hardway to, and apple never mentioned this when they first released Jaguar.
I just found out a month ago actually.
I really thought or reclaiming the money from Apple, but what's the use

Still, i know how it feels to be without computer and yes... i to thought of getting an pc since it's cheaper.
Soooo... euhm... well, try to hang in there ok.
I think the new logicboard IS worth it

Hope to talk to you again soon, on your own little iMac friend

Thanks Marcel for the thoughts. I had installed anything, just had been having lots of problems with freezes and one freeze was the last one, it wouldn't reboot. It just seems to me that everything I bought the Mac for went down with the logic board. I'm waiting a few more days but it's looking like I'm heading the Windows way as I don't have much choice.

Sorry about that, Rascal. It's also scary because my iMac is older than yours.

All I can say is I wish I had backed up my info better than I had. It's the only thing making me hesitate going the PC way. Hopefully it's not a Canadian, East Coast thing!
