Rascal, if worse comes to worse... i'm sure the harddrive isn't touched.
I'm sure you will be able to retrieve at least the harddrive, or ask them to make a copy from it or so.
They can do that some how.

Well I'm officially typing from the "Dark" side..lol. I went for it and I'm running Windows XP, I'm surprised at the simplicity of it and I'm kind of liking it. We'll see how it works out! Thanks for all the help in the past guys!! You've all been great!

Sorry to see you go, Rascal, but I understand completely.

I think after the novelty of it wears out, you'll find XP is intrusive and convoluted as ever...

BTW, the first thing I did was change the XP look to the "classic" Windows.

There's certainly some pretty cheap PCs out there.

Well it's working quite well so far, in fact somethings are easier than it was on my Mac, but my Mac was 3 yrs old also. I honestly think I had a bum machine from the start, I had problem after problem. I just couldn't justify going back to it, even if for what I paid for this I could have got a Mac. We'll see how it works out I guess. I will miss this help forum though but hopefully I won't be needing it!

Hi Rascal,

Don't leave the forum. I'm here on grace, having come as a Windows user who was hoping to convert to Mac, and found that Linux suits me better.  *grin...no one has chased me off yet. I've even found that occasionally there are Windows insights on the board...and all your Mac knowledge can still be put to use helping others on this board.

Yes Rascal, you'll be back.

For help.

Windows when it works is "different" than the Mac experience, but not as awful/horrible as some Mac enthusists say.

However, when (and yes it WILL happen) things go wrong it's like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. Forget about intuitive interfaces and repairs. It's a strange world of IRQs, DLLs, and 8 charcter files that have names that have no "logic" to them.

I'm struggling with some PeeCee problems and have "seen the darkness" and it's scary. You can whack your system by deleting a small file or two, (or make the wrong choice with a seemingly innocent installer) with no way back!

Of course I'm about to embark in the qwazy world of X, so maybe things will be even.
