I'm shocked that Harv hasn't downloaded it and given it a full review yet.    (He'll probably post it during the time it took me to write this.)

I'm on it now. It's available via software update. 39.9MB in size, Software Update lists this:

The 10.2.5 Update delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following applications, services and technologies: AirPort, Bluetooth, Classic compatibility, FireWire, Graphics, Image Capture, Mail, and OpenGL.

The update includes improvements to AFP, web services, dial-up connections over PPP, and Windows file services, as well as audio, disc recording, graphics, and printing improvements.

The update also provides updated security services and includes the latest security updates.

Rob, CorrectoMundo! The DL (39.9 MB) took 11 minutes and requires a restart. The new build is 6L29. The entire process was fault free on my DP 800.

The subsequent restart seemed to take longer than usual. Apparently this to be expected with a new OS. For sure it was long enough to have a heart attack.

I rebuilt permissions (now # 32261) and then ran fsck -y. Again, all was normal. The subsequent restart was routine, at least it seemed much quicker than the first (but I do not objectively know this.)

Internet access (via Airport) and printing both work as expected. Everything else looks much as it did, but of course I won't know if there are any gotchas until I have launched all the different applications. But so far, another Attaboy for Steve.

Just before I had to leave for work earlier today, like at 11:45 AM, I clicked Software Update.

Of course, the upgrade was ready for downloading.

So, I stuck around and let 'er rip. The only consequence was that the updater broke the driver for my WACOM tablet.

I got on the phone with WACOM tech support and the guy guided me to the latest driver update at their web site. He didn't know whether it would work or not because Apple didn't allow them enough time to test things before releasing OS 10.2.5.

It worked and all is well.

I am having an opportunity come up with my upgrade.  the problem is that when I tried to re0load the applications I get an unusal response..."Looking for OS 9.2..."

The computer is a beige PowerPC G3 6GBHD, 133 RAM, 300MHz using now OS V 10.2.3

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

JCG. Hello.

It's always a good idea to Repair Permissions with the OS X Disk Utility.

I've also seen it suggested to Repair Permissions before the Upgrade.

A Standalone Download of 10.2.5

You need OS 9.x to run some Utilities.

Depends what you have.

Why would you or anyone feel the need to get rid of OS 9.x?

Takes up a few hundred MBs and doesn't hurt anything.

If you don't need to use Classic, fine.

Chances are you'll need it one in a while.

Saw this note.

"On certain computers, you should set the Displays preferences to the native resolution before installing the Mac OS X 10.2.5 Update. If you do not, temporary video issues may occur when the computer wakes from sleep."

Don't know about display pref or permissions but once my lawnmower ran out of go go juice,I decided to update the OS on two drives.

Zero problems. Even repair permissions came back fine.

What did it do/update or add? Must be something under the hood cus I can't find any difference.

From what I've read, it is almost all under the hood, plus a few language issues.
Unlike you brave fellers, I'm reading more, blogging and waiting a bit:
MacFixit  MacInTouch.
Seen nothing significant at MacNN yet, but that's where I first saw the solution to the major modem glitch 10.2.4 threw at me.

This one seems safe, but I'm also waiting on pendragon's "gotchas".

So far no problems with 10.2.5 here. I read that someone did suggest people to disconnect external monitors that uses other resolutions than your main monitor since that did cause a problem for some while updating.

Then there seem to be some problems with some USB devices that's causing Kernel Panic's. Sure hope those vendors update their drivers.
