No problems (update, printing, external devices, etc - none) on either a Pismo/500mHz/640MB or a G4/467mHz/640MB.

Download (courtesy of PacBell DSL) <4 min, upgrade <7 min.

Just like you have it...or...copacetic.

taliesin. Not sure what you meant.

FWIW. I'm still at 10.2.2 on my main Drive.

Nothing's broke with this setup so I haven't fixed it.

I have 10.2.3 on another Drive but haven't used it much.

Ah, Kelly, I meant simply the speed at which you took to it.
Didn't realise you were running 10.2.2 and .3, on the wise "if it ain't broke" principle -- and I'm not sure it makes any odds either. I've noticed no substantial improvements with .4.
I may install .5 in the morning. Apple's reference to dealing with the modem issue is but a one-liner. Oddly, there's more about network issues, but that's where I see people reporting the most bugs so far. Plus one or two who say their mice have died...

George, It is not necessary to install 10.2.4 before 10.2.5, but then be certain to DL and install the Combo updater http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120211.

It is larger than the normal update, but it is still smaller than going the 10.24-10.2.5 route, and many report that by using the combo updater, the actual updating is smoother and more trouble free.

I had either option and ended up going for the update instead of the combo.
Why? Beats the heck out of me.
Maybe in the back of my head considering I already had 10.2.4 installed on the main and backup drive, plus the fact that they where running just fine .... didn't want any extras installed with the combo that I might of dumped after installing 10.2.4.

OR! It could of been the closest updater my mouse pointer was aiming at the time.

Haven't fired up all my extra moving-part thingies yet but haven't noticed any odd-ball behavior so far with 10.2.5.

OH YEAH. I downloaded both from a dsl line that was hitting 740?? at my local mac dealer.
D/ld both plus a couple of extra smaller d/lds in less than fifteen minutes.
Took all most as long to burn them onto a cdr because their toast was funky city.

Downloaded Combo X.2.5 at my folks' house last night. Took a speedy 5 hours.

Install went smoothly over X.2 but had to repair permissions before the F1 Championship racing game would work. After doing that it was fine.

However X.2.4 was touted as having support for force feedback with the racing wheels and were disappointed to find no such result after upgrading.

Anyone out there use a MOMO racing wheel successfully with force feedback on X ? (think I will ask this in a thread, also)

Hi Harv,
Downloaded x10.2.5 (24 mins) what a difference broadband makes from dialup.
Will now wait and see how the benefits 10.2.5 manifest themselves.
Thanks again.
George.
ps.
Good comes to them that wait.

Went fine.
Ran Harv's routines after fetching the "combo". Also ran DiskWarrior, which found the directory needed quite a bit of work.
Maybe it's pure coincidence, but my iDisk access is faster.

10.2.5 Update - Kernel Panics due to USB Hub use?

"I don't use a USB hub and updated two macs to 10.2.5 here without any problems, but some readers have seen problems like kernel panics - which one reader wrote to say is reportedly due to using a USB Hub."

Currently, I have two 4-port powered USB hubs connected to my FP imac.  I updated to OS X 10.2.5 as soon as it became available on Software update.  I have had no problems whatsoever.  6 of the eight ports on the hubs are in use as well as both ports on my keyboard (mouse and compactflash reader).

The only nit I have noticed  (so far) relates to the System Preference for Software Update. I always have the “Automatically Check for updates…” option disabled. As with every other OS update obtained via the software update, the new version always defaults to having the Automatic check enabled for a weekly check.

The original OS 9.2 became corrupt and the original CD could not be located.  Thought a clean install would be best since I have the combo OS x.2.3

Tried to repair the system (x.2.3) using Disk Aid and turned out to do the same thing as I attempted to re-load the software from CD.
