Boffo Browsers

I kinda, sorta, think this might be an interesting thread. I hope so, anyhow.

For a couple of weeks, I've been genuinely enjoying Mozilla 1.3 (for OSX). I'll list the "first impressions" that make its usage so pleasant.

For general education purposes, why not do the same for your favorite browser(s). Who knows, someone might actually benefit from such results?

MOZILLA 1.3 (similar, of course, but considerably superior IMHO to Netscape 7.x)

[*]Very smooth intregrated mail and web browsing
[*]Faultless, lightning fast imports of addresses, bookmarks, mail
    [*]Uncluttered appearance
[*]Dazzlingly effective spam ID and removal
    [*]Perfect pop-up blocking
    [*]Quick, adaptable auto-form-fill feature
[*]Simple, elegant keyboard control to enlarge/diminish ANY web site's fonts
[*]Total absence of bugs in addressbooks/addressing
      Not bad for an introduction.
One "con" = no Spell Check, as yet

      OK, out there,  speak up!

Hi,

I'm gonna add my 2 cents for Mozilla 1.3a too. I've been using it since the first of the year. I should go get the new 1.4 but I haven't had time yet.

I love it!  The spam filters don't work quite right, but right enough to make it worth using. In my case...(maybe it's because it's on Linux)  the spam is marked with the junk icon, but it isn't moved out of my inbox to the junk box. But, since it's marked, I use the tool menu to select the run junk filters option and off it goes..enmass.

Otherwise...just as Dick says, even this "alpha" version of Mozilla works _very, very_ well. I would recommend anyone on any operating system give it a try.

see ya,
Diana

softkid writes "Beginning with mozilla 1.3a (which has just been released, check the mirrors before downloading) macos will be a port. User of the carbonlib calssic os will be ablke to use the CFM port of Mozilla but that's it. This is the first major software editor dropping official support for older oses." I think what he's trying to say is that Mozilla is "transitioning the Mac Classic (OS 8.x and 9.x) build to Mozilla Port status" and that non-OS X users will most likely be stuck at Mozilla 1.2.

For me, it really is -- right now -- easily between Camino and Safari.
I'm also running the Omniweb 4.5 "sneaky peek" 4 (v.444) and like the way this one's going.
I went into the reasons and comparisons in my "blog" one day, if it's of any interest.
(Where the weblog goes, I'm still occasionally fiddling with presentation in an -- uphill -- struggle to get the thing to come out properly in iCab and the older NS browsers, but think I'm stumped because of the style sheets.)
With my daughter's blessing, IE was trashed completely from the X partition yesterday.
