WiFi is great, I like my set up, which is ADSL-->Modem-->D-Link Router->>G4 Tower->>Dell laptop and the 12" PB.
To use the internet is no problem, you turn on any one machine and you're surfing. To file share or print , the the respective machine has to be on. USB printer sharing only works with my Macs. The Dell has to be physically connected to a USB printer but there is a way with additional software (DAVE).
You could get a network printer($$$) or a print server and in that case your other machines would not have to be turned on. The printer would have it's own address (through the NIC card) on your network. It could even be a wireless NIC.
Remember this though...If you get Airport Extreme and connect any 802.11b device it'll "throtle" down your whole network to 11Mbps from 54Mbps. So if you go for a network printer, make sure you can get a 802.11g card for it and that it's compatible with that protocol.($$$$$)
[EDIT: Overlooked one thing...the Airport Base Station has a USB port for a printer...
