Diana: Eudora e-mail messages in IE cache!
« on: May 03, 2003, 05:04:00 AM »
Diana,

A few weeks ago I noted that my IE 5 on OS 9.2.2 had a .waf cache that when I opened it  using CanOpener, contained hundreds of my Eudora e-mail messages. Somehow, Eudora is communicating with IE. In my Microsft paranoia, I thought this was a trick to get info on my habits. Apparently, I am doing something to transmit my Eudora messages to IE. I did check Eudora and found nothing in its settings that did this. So it must be in IE prefs. However, while in IE prefs, I could find no info on where I might have set my mail server or SMTP server address.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

MamaMoose

Hi MamaMoose,

I remember the thread  started in early April about those strange cache files HERE

I don't really have any more good info than what was talked about there, but doing a search on google gave me   THESE POSSIBILITIES

I never used the Microsoft viewer option in Eudora..preferring to read everything as plain text, so I don't know how my windows system still saves and hides files for e-mail, but it does. There is more here than I understand. I may find I'm mislead still, but I'm using Mozilla now for e-mail and it allows more controls over whether or not you enable scripting/images/HTML for e-mail and or web surfing. This makes me feel better.     True, if Eudora was ported to Linux, I would probably still be using it, but I'm happy with Mozilla.

I'll just have to trust that no authority will ever have reason to examine my system forensically. These computers hold alot of secrets for bad or good.

see ya,
Diana
