2006 / More On JBL Creature Speakers
« on: November 30, 2006, 10:33:21 PM »
Bought them thru bradsdeals.com
via Ritz Camera which offers $20 off $50 with google checkout. Ordered them just a few days ago and they came today. I think they're great eusa_dance.gif , easy to set up and a BIG improvement over the dinky speaker on my g4 silvertooth. I just plugged them into the headphone jack, fooled around with the equalizer on iTunes a bit and that was it. The're plenty loud and don't sound bad at all biggrin.gif . I'm pleasantly suprised with the quality of sound. I've owned a pair of JBL 100 studio monitors for more then 30 yrs and they still sound great even after being hauled all over the place all these years. I just wanted to thank the folks who reccomended them in a post a few weeks ago about speakers, it was good advice. :thanx

2003 / Latest Security Update Caused Some Problems
« on: July 27, 2003, 12:22:23 AM »
jb, had them both (both for OSX), both worked fine until the update. Only had 7.1 for a week or three, didn't want to trash the older until I was sure the bugs were out of the newest version. Also I love Netscape and collect them, 3.0 gold being one of my favs, I still surf with it on my iMac running 8.51 some times just for fun as well as some older versions just for nostalgia's sake biggrin.gif

Thanks guys. It seems that repairing permissions before and after any update or install isn't a bad idea. Everything seems stable again except Netscape 7.02 which just will not work, and it's living in the trash for a day or three before I delete it.

2003 / Latest Security Update Caused Some Problems
« on: July 24, 2003, 10:47:25 PM »
It's a G4 800MHz single processor with 768MB of ram. I've run fsck-y a few times and repaired permissions twice more and at least Photoshop works now but the desktop and dock are still misbehaving sometimes on restart and now Netscape 7.02 launches but nothing at all shows up on the desktop yet 7.1 works just fine as does Camino Safari, Omniweb, Mozilla and Opera but IE's preferences were back to default, go figure wallbash.gif
Also should note that when I first restarted after the update and permission repair the dock only contained the generic set, had to rebuild it to it's previous state and that seems to stick.

« on: July 24, 2003, 10:17:35 PM »
I just installed the 7/14/03 security update I downloaded from Apple to OS10.2.6 then repaired permissions and everytime I restart I loose the settings for my desktop ie: icon size and placing and my dock prefs. Sure am missing Desktop Resetter right about now as I'm one of those who have a cluttered (but organized) desktop. Also I've had to reenter serial numbers for a few applications and Photoshop quits upon launch with some unknown error. Wish I could uninstall this update. Any suggestions? In the classic days I'd throw out some preferences and rebuild the desktop etc and all would be well. Thanks for any help!

Beautiful page. My sympathies to you and yours. Yesterday was the third aniversary of my Dad's passing yet he lives on in my heart and is always with me. May you find the peace that comes in knowing that your Mother always will be with you also.

2003 / How can I test my internal modem to see if it
« on: May 08, 2003, 12:04:00 PM »
I'm trying to set up a fax program (FAXstf X 10.0.8) and since I've had cable for 4 years I've never used my internal modem in my g4 until now.  I have two seperate phone lines in case a solution involves their use. I don't get a "no dial tone detected" error and I believe I have the program set up properly. Tech support agrees and thinks it's the modem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
