I also like  PresentMovie

 Features:

    * Plays QuickTime compatible movies (.mov, .mpg, VCDs). (and many .avi's)
    * Stretches movies to full-screen without having to go through the multiple steps required in QuickTime Pro.
    * Supports multiple monitors.
    * Allows the user to change the size of the movie, rate and volume level.

Tips & Tricks:

    * Simply drag movies (or a folder containing movies) to the application icon and they're displayed immediately.

PresentMovie is shareware, and it costs just $15.00. Download it, try it out, and then register your copy. For personal, non-profit use, a simple "thank you" email is adequate!

Try VLC media player  v. 0.5.3   despite the alphaware-like version number, it functions very well indeed.  Excellent  for viewing those .avi vid's that QT6.2 will not access

I tried MPlayer, works fine.  But is CPU intensive.  When trying to do anything outside of watching a clip the clip would pause.  What's good about MPlayer is that it does play alot of different formats, where otherwise you would have to use a host of different programs to do the same files.

VLC will play AVI fles and most divx files too.  It will also play a whole lot of other file types.  Plus it does not pause to often while doing other things while watching a clip.
