Earthlink Lament - not a pretty picture

To top it off, on the very front page of our local newspaper, there was a great article about the local business owners coming into our high school and giving lectures and showing about their jobs(it was optional for the kids), and right there in the right side of the picture, was a girl sound asleep with her neck at an impossible angle.  Yes, her mouth was open too.
Oh, so embarassing.

Late to this thread.

I would like to add my two cents (probably not helpful to RHPConsult) on dealing with customer support...

Be in good mood before making the phone call. It is always a good idea to caution the operator "this phone call may be recorded" (in some states it is required to inform other party first.).

When talking to sales person, it's always a good idea to take notes and preferable recording of phone conversation.

When talking to tech support, it's a good idea not to mention we use Macs, unless their website indicates Mac is supported. Just ask for the settings on modem will do.

Be firm. Many telephone operators were trained to blame customers.

If you believe you've been treated unfairly, you can contact your local media (public affair program).

Much easier said than done! If I wasn't already upset, I wouldn't be making the call!

Reminds me of another 'sig': "Went to the exercise spa and they told me to bring some lose fitting clothes. If I had lose clothes, I wouldn't be going to the spa! smile.gif

Is that supposed to encourage us? We should feel better because they don't really care what our problem is? I'm afraid that is simply a big part of the perceived attitude of these people, it doesn't help me to think that they actually might have been taught to behave that way! wallbash.gif

I think there are elements here that could be worked into a blue's song (the Lowdown  Earthlink Blues) or a Greek tragedy (I don't know what one would call that).  I haven't had much trouble with SBC (AT&T) but I suppose it's only a matter of time!
