Happy Thanksgiving to all. I'm going to a friends house and enjoy good company and good food. We have wild weather here, that is expected to continue for a few days, so I'll get drenched going from car to house to car, but that's okay. Now off to watch some football.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach him to
use the Net and he won't bother you for weeks.

I ate lots of delicious food. My friend tried new recipes and everything was terrific. We sat and watched the lightening and rain, listened to the thunder and talked and laughed. The drive home was nerve wracking. I don't normally drive at night in the winter as there aren't many street lights, and in the rain the visibility is really bad. My route home took me past a tree that was leaning and it fell 15-30 minutes after I went by the spot.  eek2.gif Then just before my turn to come up my hill, I hit a flooded spot in the road. Too dark to see it, I went into the water around 25mph. Car lost traction, and I eased up on the gas and let my lovely tires find the road. Then I crept through the rest of the area, praying I didn't wind up with water in my car engine. I was glad to have made it up my hill and into my garage.

If I'd known about any of this, I'd have gone the long way round.

Once home, I sat down and watched the Cowboys vs Redskins game as I'd recorded it. Good game.

Glad you made it home safely!

"Motherly" advice:
Try RainX (be sure to follow the directions).
Keep wiper blades replaced and pliable.
Keep headlight covers clean and clear.
    Think about better/brighter bulbs
Get an eye exam at least once a year.
    Slow down.

BTW, there are dozens of formulae for computing the probable speed your tires will hydroplane,
but you won't be able to use any of them during the event!

Good to hear you all had happy turkey days. We had a quiet day with Dad, my sister and niece. My sister did all the cooking at her place and brought the food to Dad's house. Sometimes it pays to have a non-working stove. toothgrin.gif

Hey kimmer, can you send some of that wet stuff our way? We are about 12 inches below normal in rainfall and things are getting dicey around here with drought warnings. I've cut back on laundry to save the well water as well as taking my longer showers at the Y. Dad takes short ones anyway cause he's always cold no matter how high I put the thermostat. But then, at 98 he's allowed to be picky. smile.gif
