sound - issues
« on: October 26, 2020, 03:44:37 AM »
My helpdesk insisted that i had to use a USB device headset, which I finally bought, out of frustration. In Sound I have highlighted the new device in input and output, but the sound is still coming out of my built-in speakers on my laptop. :sos:

It was working yesterday, but not today.

I am using Amazon Workspaces and ringcentral in the Chrome browser.

Would have been better if i could just have used the jack headphones, but there was an echo on it.

Are the headphones using the same version of USB as you have on the MBP? USB2, USB3. etc.

Easiest step: Try using a different USB port?

Found a 2006 Apple forums thread that "solved" this kind of problem by muting and then UN-muting the headset in Audio prefs. I don't call that a "solution"! :nono:

Here's a list of steps that are rather generic but dated June, 2020.

Then, here are the general Apple support ideas, with related links.

Of course, you can also try the headphone manufacturer, they may know some Apple-specific tricks...

Lastly, a chat with Apple, directly, may help diagnose a hardware problem.
