Who's going to tell Gregg it was "hubby's" birthday.

Maybe I'm confused, but Jane's topic said

...Its(sic) my birthday, so I got this for my husband

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Hi Kelly,
I would love to do this, I just hope I can get it to work.   At the moment I havent been able to add Richie's computer to my two in a network.  Ive got my G5 icon sitting on the desktop of the G4, and this is wonderful, just open the hard drive and drag anything anywhere.  But I havent gotten it working with the new one yet.
I go to the Finder Go menu down to Network, and do it exactly like I do with these 2, but nothing shows up.  I will work on it this afternoon.

But its these pictures off the old OS 9.2.2 one that I need.
Thank you for those links, I think I should be able to get it working.
I know Ive got an extra cable around here.
Jane

This might help. . . maybe?

I don't know why/how, Jane (all my Older, Smarter Brothers/Sisters hereabouts will have to provide the explanation) but there have been times I could connect to the PB from the iMacIntel (your model) but not the other way 'round. Just couldn't make it happen through the directory display.

But, when I went to GO––>CONNECT TO SERVER and inserted the relevant IP address of the Mac with which I wished to share files, I get a connection every time. Saving those IP address in the GO window is the easiest way to make connections again, later.

You can find your IP address in NETWORK––>NETWORK STATUS––>your connection mode––>TCP/IP tab

Make sense?

Ive got the IP address, its the router one, but how would you insert it into the connect to server box? When I go Connect to Server, I just see my other Mac(the one which I am networked to at the moment) and another globe, called Server.
Ive always done it this way and it works so easily?
I just double click on the globe that indicates the computer I want to network, and bingo, is shows right up on the desktop within a second.

But his computer is on the same router but wont show up?
The menu wont even show up when I go to GO on his, sometimes it just blinks on for a second then goes away?
Thanks,
Jane

As far as I know (too many, hereabouts, know the limits of that territory!)
you put in his IP Address going one way, OR yours going the other, and let the router take care of itself.

Are you using CONNECT TO SERVER, under GO, in TIGER on your new Mac?

That's how I got around nothing (zero) appearing, otherwise.

First, check the links kelly gave you.
Second, recheck the settings on the new computer to be sure they are as directed in the links.
Third, check that Sharing is ON for the new computer.
Fourth, check those links again, carefully. It ain't rocket science. You can do it. smile.gif
