Back when my older son was still in a car seat he used to imitate, fairly accurately, the motor sounds our mid-1980's Datsun made when revving up and shifting gears.  I'm assuming this "very" non-stock '72 Datsun would make far less noise in doing everything except for burning rubber:

Looks like it needs a little more weight in the back!  rolleyes.gif

My first car was a Datsun 510 ('71?) - a hand-me-down from my mother, which lasted all of about 6 months before its Flintstone-like characteristics rendered it a little...um...scary. (Actually it wasn't the rust holes in the floor, but rather the warning not to exceed about 30 MPH, especially over bumps, from a friend who looked at the engine mounts. blink.gif )

Anyway - it never went 0-60 in 1.8 seconds!!

I don't remember what model number Datsun I had but the main bearing went out before the engine mounts!

It was also known as the Datsun 1300/1500 or 1600 (depending on engine) but I think it was sold as a 510 in the US, same as in Canada.

It's funny - I look at the pictures now and think it looks so old-fashioned - and not quite as boxy as I remember. Odd, how one's memory plays tricks.
