Trouble With Toast

Hmmm..

You can't get a drop down menu like

this,no matter what?

Not sure if Harvs' idea will solve the problem but I'm confused on the drop menu bit now.

Mayo, Try this:

Hold down the Control key and then click once on the Toast app. Do not release the Control key. A drop down menu will appear. Then, while still holding down the Control key, click on Show Package Contents. A new window should appear with two icons in it (Toast Titanium alias and a folder called Contents). Release the Control key. Double click on the Contents folder. In that are five items. Double click on the MacOS Folder. When that opens, drag the Rox.dat file to the trash. Empty trash. Restart. Repair Permissions.

When next you open Toast, it will ask for your serial/registration number. According to some, this technique (reportedly from Roxio) cures many ills. But will it solve this problem? I dunno.

Just realized you're using OS 9 (aren't you?) Mayo.
So I took a snapshot in 9.


You can go by Harvs instructions or if you've a 'Contextual Menu Plugin' setup
for this action.
What I did notice is when you select 'show package contents' in 9,the actual app toast turns into the contents folder!
Rebooting turns it back to the application again.
I never knew that would happen.

Nope, doesn't work for me...  I do have FinderPop installed, so I turned it off but nothing changes.

Perhaps I should just reinstall Toast???

Mayo, I'm in OS 9 now.
I've looked around in the control panels trying to find anything that would remotely cause why you can't get that drop down menu. Nada that I can see.

What do you have in your contextual menu items folder?

Let's see...  Change Visibility, Find CM Items, Folder Actions Menus, MacLinkPlus™ CM, and UDFBridgeCMPlugin.

Well. Appears you have all the basic CMs.?.
Without having to reread the entire thread again ... have you tried using the pad instead of a mouse

I had to spend some time at my favorite office *NOT* for a short while.

Although I did have some time for jumping on the company powerbook to see if I could get the drop down menu with the PBs pad and a mouse.
Not only could I get the drop down menu, I rebooted into OS 9 [which is on the same drive. No partition] and was able to repeat the same in OS 9.

Took some snapshots and stuck them all on one file.

I'm beginning to wonder/think this problem with you not being able to get the drop down menu is at your end but not a human error.?.

As far as the original subject 'toast'?
Do you think maybe both the above and toast might be the same problem somehow?

Hey Bill, it finally worked!  After reading your last post  I tried accessing the Toast folder by clicking through the volume icon on the desktop vs. using Greg's Browser as I normally do. I thought that I had already tried this step, but something must have been different tonight when I did it again.  

G's Browser must interfere with the contextual menu because the Package Contents command never appears as an option.

But the ol' fashion way of accessing files works just fine, even with FinderPop enabled.

Now we just have to see if dumping that file does the trick...

I need to 'clean house' on the server where I posted some of those pics.
