All-in-one Printer/Scanner/Copier
« on: March 16, 2003, 12:06:00 PM »
Went to Cosco yesterday and saw the Epson CX5200 USB at a killer price...$250 CND, which translates to about $135 USD. I was looking to replace my aging Stylus 740, Microtek E3 scanner and this fit the bill.

I've been testing it out and I'm completely satisfied even though all the drivers and functionality have not been updated for Jaguar. Okay, it's missing the "one button" scan feature and "Scan to File".

Otherwise, scanning works fine from Photoshop 7 with the 5.72A TWAIN driver which ships with the product. Grab is supported, although  I haven't tried it. Epson has updated the TWAIN driver to 5.75A, which I have just installed. Printer drivers work fine, as expected.

This unit also uses separate color ink cartridges, which can be replaced as needed.

Contrary to C|net, the scanner/copy bed is US Letter/A4 size only, so if you need to copy or scan Legal size docs, it won't do.

If anyone is looking for an All-in-One unit, I'd say have a look at this one.

Nah, far from bored...not enough time to play sometimes.

I've taken it with me on the road a few times, it blows people's minds...especialy when I tell them it's got a slot loading DVD burner. I've been looking into a bluetooth enabled phone with always on internet, but the cost is HUGE...well huge for someone who doesn't really need it.

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Hey KPS, these Multifunctioner’s are handy dandy’s aren’t they?

I bought this one a while back and I’m still running the same ink cartridges.

Sure are SB, no fax on this model, all I ever get are those multipage junk faxes.

I have an old...really old stand alone fax machine...it still uses rolls of thermal paper.
