In your "Profile", Gregg, is what DB meant. "Board style" in the prefs...

FWIW, I've also had trouble getting there occasionally, but did put it down to the work in progress.

Sorry Gregg... but yes the TS profile. The one on the new board... you should be able to access it from the menu right underneath the logo and banner... the page that comes up allows you to custom set your prefs to a much greater extent than this board including the pic that Bill left should show for you in there.

Another thing... is NS4.77 the only browser you have? I ask because I went and decided to try "Fiapple" on NS4.76 and could NOT get out of it for the life of me, until I changed it back to Appalachia in Opera 5.

Yo Bill! It's raining here too...          Beats the heck out of snow!

Gregg:  In your profile on the other board.  Once you log in, go to your Profile and about two scrolls down, you'll see the box Bill pictured, "Board Style".

Snow Witch-Sign in with your login name from this board, NOT your "displayed" name.     I forgot to mention that the "displayed names" did NOT make the conversion, only logins.

Everyone you can find your login name (just in case, like me, you have developed CRS) by going to  Profile  on this board

Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Just want to reiterate what Jennie has been trying to get across to everyone that this new software t'ain't easy to figure  and get to work out of the box.

I've been shaking my head so much lately I think I have the DT's.

Even some of the orginal files don't correspond in some cases to the info displayed in the control panel. And uploading has proven to be a crapshoot depending on the ftp client used.

So, please be patient but let us know everything you encounter so we can find it's cause now.

At bit of a warning...when I start playing with the theme again (soon) you may find yourself with a non-working theme or weird graphic arrangement. If that happens, try to get to your profile and change themes temporarily. If that's not possible,  just leave the new board and come back here for awhile.

Here's the link for your  Profile  on the test board . So if you can't get there from there, then you can get there from here. Got that?

OK Gregg... just another idea.

In Netscape 4.77 go to edit>preferences>advanced and make sure that you have the box "enable style sheets" checked, see if that makes a difference...

The "looks" of the new board work via .css (Cascading Style Sheets)... unfortunately while I've always found NS4.x to be an excellent browser myself it's getting old enough now that the newer style sheets don't work with it. But the Appalachia theme does work with it very well.

Have you considered getting another browser to use where NS4.x is starting to fail or upgrading to NS7.x?

I tried NS7, was having problems with it, posted here, never solved the problem; trashed it. I'm not too keen on another attempt to be honest.

Ok Dreamie, that one was checked too. But, thanks for trying. I guess I'm at check, mate.

I searched for my old thread about my NS7 problem(s), but came up empty. I think it was sometime in January, because there was another similar thread then that I did find, and remembered contributing to along with the one I started.

Suffice to say, I don't remember the specific problem(s) I was having with it. Seems that it just wouldn't open Messenger, but I'm not sure anymore. I just remember being so disgusted that I gave up on it.

edit
I just noticed the banner. That's me with the brush. What you can't see is the corner window just over my head. Always leave yourself a way out...

No probs Gregg... sorry none of the suggestions worked...

The email in NS7.x... yes, I've seen complaints about it for both Mac and Windows, but less lately... maybe they're ironing the bugs out a bit. I found that you "can" in fact install NS7.x as "standalone", no email by doing a custom install and choosing not to install AIM or ICQ. The icons and prefs are still there but don't work... messy!

I've had it installed a few times to learn a bit about it and see what's new, but have also turned back to NS4.76. Unfortunately it's getting hard on the web with more sites not working... that's when I use Opera 5.

You think there's a window in the corner of that banner eh? Hmmmm
I sure don't remember putting one in when I did the thing! Unless my sister slipped one in...

Finally went back to the new board with another 0.03 of Netscape. (I upgraded to 4.8 from 4.77) It works just fine. I'm not sure if it was my upgrade that made the difference, or if there is a newer new board that I had not visited before.
