Now there's a little factoid that doesn't get much air time. There is always chatter about Jackie Robinson "breaking the color barrier" in baseball, but rarely anything about other sports. Have there ever been any "colorful" players in ice hockey???

My earliest memories only go back to 1959 or so, and involve child play, not current events. But of course, the 50's influence remains in music and TV, almost making me feel like I remember it as it happened.

One of the things I really like about the iPod/iTunes is that they give us the opportunity to download and play those treasures; for the most part I stopped listening to music stations back around the mid-fifties and truly decry the poop that's being aired these days.

Outta HS in '48; outta the navy in '52; outta Univ. of San Francisco in '57; outta Loyola Law School in '66 and happily retired since '86.

I'm a child of the 50's & 60's and my favorite music is the big band sound.
I have a collection of 78's which includes most of the Andrew Sisters.

Dad had a 1953 Buick Skylark convertable...light blue. He taught me to drive in a '56 chevy...black. My first car was an old '50 Ford...green named "Slightly lame Samuel".

...and I don't care what anyone thinks, I always liked the music of Abba and Queen.

On the downside, I graduated from high school in May 1950 and six months later arrived in Korea. Stayed there in combat for seventeen months. Those were NOT the good old days.
