MacHome magazine?
« on: July 11, 2006, 02:20:54 PM »
Ive been a subscriber to MacHome magazine for years, and really like it.
(I get MacWorld and MacAddict too.)
The most recent issue Ive gotten is April, and that is the one pictured on their site as the latest.
Their phone does not answer either.  And I got my email back as "Mail System Error Returned mail".

I sure hope they arent going under.  But It doesnt sound very good, sad,,,,,,,,,
Anybody here heard anything?
Thanks,
Jane

I looked at that too, seems OK, but none of their phone numbers work.
And their issue that is pictured on their site is the April one.
And all my emails have been returned undeliverable.
Sounds like they might be in trouble, I hope not.

I think that "many" publications get a little irregular in the summertime.  I "think" I noticed that the page had been updated in July; I will say that I'd never heard of them until you brought them up.  I like MACFormat & MAC Addict and I know I'd miss them if they weren't around!

Later: I'm afraid my "thinking" was based upon a automatic feature that changes the date to the current one on the webpage. src="/tools/currentDate.js">

I'm a bit surprised that MacHome is still around. I didn't renew a few years back. I was not in their target audience I guess.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Their subscriptions are still for sale:

And here it is mentioned that the website is not normally updated like an online magazine usually is:

I used to get a newsletter from them but it stopped appearing some months ago. Don't know why.

I've been subscribing to MacFormat for years - presumably North America gets the same mag we do, (though MacUser and MacWorld have UK editions)? As well as its own forum, MF has just started its own blog at http://www.macformat.co.uk

Never got into blogs myself and I'm not sure what the advantage is over just posting on the forum....  huh.gif

Yep, MACFormat is the same as the UK version.  I have to go to a bookstore in Kansas City to get it; I usually also get LinuxFormat because I'm interested in it as well!

Good news, I just got another issue, bit late, but indicates that they are OK.  The website is still behind, but Im hoping they will update it soon.
The newsletter is very late too.
But it sure seems as if they are OK.
Dont know what happened to their phone lines, nor their email system, but maybe they were all on vacation.

Thank goodness, as I do love their little magazine.

If this page is 'for real', I'm afraid we'll have to say 'so long' to "MacHome".  I, too, will miss it--have subscribed for many, many years and found it easy to understand, and, as they say, user friendly.  My subscription is still active...  tears.gif

This link was posted on the DealMac site tonight.

Hi Sunset,  Thank you for the link.   So sad, I sure loved that little magazine.
I was hoping that they were just having some delays or temporary problems,,,,,

It is too bad. I got the free subscription when I bought my Performa in '97, and have kept it current since then. I know that their circulation was over 100,000 in 1999-2000 because I heard an editor interviewed on MacShow Live. I sure hope Chris McVeigh and Marcus Rovvito will keep writing- their articles are always enjoyable (and informative).

The MacHome Subscription Page is still accepting 1 & 2 year subscription orders.  dntknw.gif

While their Home Page displays today's date, the content has not been updated since April 24th. wallbash.gif

Shame on them if they are, in fact, still accepting subscriptions. (IMNHO) nono.gif
