Mac OS X Routine Maintenance

Kris, not sure which machine you had trouble with using MainMenu, but you might want to take a look and <MaxMenus> and maybe <Apple System Menu>, as well. I really like MaxMenus and have had absolutely no troubles using it on my iMac iGloo and my wife's iBook G4. Both are Pref panels and seem to work very well with everything. As you know, I dislike the Dock and these two apps make it a very seldom used 'feature'.

As a long time rider (45 yrs., on and off, no pun intended!) and growing up in the desert, I can tell you that riding in the late evening and night is truly a delight, if your night vision is still good, Randy.  Less traffic, cool breeze, and that way, you have an excuse to sleep in, come morning!  :

I only used it for a week or so until I encountered this problem. It may not have been the reason for the crash but I didn't want to take any chances.

Ah yes, I remember now from Randy's site. Another case of a useful program that may be overlooked because of a bad choice of name. I recall one called Diablotin. It was some kind of utility ( that seems to be what I download more than anything else ). What I don't remember is why I tried it, what it did, or anything else about it!

BTW, MaxMenus has just been updated. You really should use it, it's much better named than "FruitMenu"!

Serves ya' right.  You got me to download some utility, talked me through setting it to take care of whatever prob I was having - which it did - and now I see this "thing" in my system pref window, I don't know it is, what it does, why I set it up to start with, I couldn't uninstall it if I wanted since I don't know what it is, and when I asked you several months ago you couldn't remember either. So - it serves ya' right.

Well, if you had MaxMenus, you'd just click in the upper right-hand corner of your screen and see the list of Pref Panes installed, drag down to the 'mystery' panel and it would open for you. Most have an "About This" item somewhere. And just opening it might jog your memory about what it does, you might even want to use it, again! Now, I have an excuse for my failing memory ( although I can't remember exactly what it is, right now... ), what's yours?!

So, is <this> what you're screaming about?! I still think it's a stupid name...
It could be the developer has an interest in a <certain volcano in Dominica>...
Or he is an avid reader of <Foucault's Pendulum>...
Or it could be the name for the brains tendency to forget or lose connection with memories as it ages...

Neat!  Other folks here ride!  

I'd like to go for a night ride, but this week it has only cooled down to somewhere in the 90's in the evening.  It has gotten cooler today, maybe I'll be ablel to go for a nice ride this weekend.

A friend from DMUG and I went for a ride along the Sacramento river a couple of weeks ago, and ended up in Old Town.  That was fun.  Especially looking at all the bikes parked in Old Town.
