I hope Apple leaves these Pod people alone

Wow, great stuff here:

http://www.safaripod.com/

Handmade in Kenya!  What great marketing people!  Makes me wish I had an iPod!   smile.gif
Also look at the OS X Totem animals: Tiger, Jaguar, Panther, Leopard! I like this

Why are the prices so high?

Have you ever carved a Giraffe from a rough chunk of brittle tropical hardwood using a dull chisel and a blunt adz? We pay our carvers unusually well for these SafariPod pieces. And, carefully getting them from Kenya to the USA is also quite expensive. We try to set fair prices based on our costs. But basically, hand-carved, exotic-wood artwork is not cheap.

I wonder if any of the carvers earn enough to own a 'pod'? Or how about enough to actually own their carving tools?
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

Sigh, they would in a perfect world!  I have heard good things about a number of artists cooperatives being setup with money from IMF or something of that sort.  Also if you look at the website section "About Us" there are some details that could probably be checked!
