Way OT, just have to post this picture

I finally have the wedding pictures on my repaired Mac.
Here is the cutest piggy in the world!  She was one of the pets at the resort that one of the weddings was held.  Alice is her name.
She ran free, and you can see by the size of her, that everybody fed her!

You can see some of my grandkids in the background, they fed her too.
In hot weather she goes into the lake a lot, you can see the waterline on her tummy and chin.

Those pot-bellied pigs always remind me of the "crying-something" cookie jar my grandmother had when I was a kid.  I think it was supposed to be a dog but it looked a lot more like a pot-bellied pig.  I don't know why a dog or a pig had ought to be crying on a cookie jar!

Egads, one more picture,,,,,,,
This is not a pet, but she was inside our aluminum canoe!
http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=...zpDcwhGI15Afk9M
One of our kids and I picked up the canoe, and realized we had disturbed her.
I carefully took a long stick and took her out, and carried her to the woods out back of our house, but in the process, she decided to run up the stick towards my arm!
So I just deposited the stick and all on the grass and let her find a new house.

Jane, there is something about that pic of the pig with the kids in the background...kind of surreal.

I downloaded it and made it into an icon and pasted on a folder of URLs for the local grocery store food circulars.  smile.gif

Hi Krissel,  Thats wonderful!   How did you make a picture into an icon?  Ive tried that, and they dont come out very well.  Ive got Elements of Photoshop, is that the way to do it?
Would you post that icon, I would love to see it.
Thanks,
Jane

It would be fun to make the spider into an icon too,,,,,,,,
I just have to learn how to do this!
My desktop would then be completely customized.

Hi, Jane

Have you noticed the face on Alice? Could it have been done on purpose with clippers and a comb? Looks sorta like a Vulcan Charles Laughten. biggrin.gif Click it for a slightly larger image.

Ive got a lot of other photos of her too, but the closeups are the best.
She sure was cute.  She was so fat that she had trouble getting into the kitchen, which was actually good, thus she was not underfoot there.
My grandkids loved playing with her, but these animals dont interact with people like dogs do, they are just obsessed with food, and playing ball and things like that, they are not interested in very much.
If she got tired of the children petting her, she would walk down the hill into the lake and hang out there.  When it got time, sunset, for her to go to bed and get put into her pen in the barn, it was a very reluctant walk.  The previous owners of the resort/farm, let her sleep in their living room(she is housebroken).  But that part of the house was turned into a rented part, so they had to try to keep her out of there.  They had to put a hook on the door.  She would stand outside and oink.
There was also a pony who had the run of the place, he also begged for food, was so cute.  He would stand beside the picnic tables, and blink his pretty eyes and push his nose closer and closer to your plate(the veggies of course).
Whoops, this is getting too long, anyway, it sure was a fun weekend.
We intend to go back there for a few days next summer, it was a lovely place.

Waiting for Krissel to teach me how to make icons out of my photos!

Jane, I simply use 'Easy Bake Icon' which allows you do drop any image on it and it creates the icon. While only tested in Tiger, it works in 10.3.9 by saying 'yes' to the question of whether you want to open it. Then in Preview, open the side drawers and click on the topmost image, then Copy. Merely paste as you would any other icon in the Get Info window of the folder you want to change.

You can get it here:

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27411

Obviously if you have a section of a picture you want to use, you will have to crop it in some other program and then use the image.

Hi Krissel,
Thank you, Easy Bake is nice, but unfortunatly when I made several icons, they show up as just a .icns, not as a picture.  Like the ones I make with PSE.
Can you figure out what I am doing wrong?
Here is a screenshot explaining what I did,

Whoops, they said to paste this into any forum, should show a thumbnail of the image,,,,lets try this instead,

Sometimes I am dumb about new stuff,,,,,,,2 already this morning, the icon problem, and the thumbnail image wont show.

You obviously have Tiger which I don't so it is behaving differently for you.

When it finishes it's action does it ask whether you want to open the file now?

If so, say yes.   Or see what happens when you doubleclick one of those files.

Hi Krissel,
Ive got both Tiger and Panther set now to wait.
Then I can decide and doubleclick later.  Ive been planning to download some PC programs, XenoDream and UltraFractal, and not open them, but to burn them onto a CD and then take them to our store and fire them up on one of the new MacTells.

It is different for Firefox too.
But I guess Ive got it figured out now.

But the icon program, it just gives me what I put in that screenshot, so I went back to making icons by hand.  Im sure I did something wrong though.
Icons are fun, I sure could get carried away with making some wild and crazy ones!
With all the macro insect photos that my husband and I have, our desktops could be the creepy-crawlie center.
