Good info, good timing! We've got a scoreboard coming for the Church Gym, I suspect the cabling will be Cat 5. I pulled a string thru the conduit yesterday to make sure the included cable ( 150 feet ) will be long enough. We only need about 110, but the extra can easily be coiled at the 'board' end. At least we were smart enough to run the conduits ( two ) for this 'upgrade' when the building was built some 3 years ago. There's an access point for the board(s) controller ( with AC power, also ) built-in in the floor on the long side of the Gym. I'll make sure the electrician uses that lubricant, even though it seemed to be an easy pull through when I pulled the pre-installed string back through. I never saw what I would call sharp bends in any of the conduits during the construction. The electrical work was probably one of the best designed and monitored parts of the process.

That bit about special cable lubricant was news to me.  

But then, much else in that article was also news to me.

ABD, what kind of scoreboard is it. Most scoreboards don't use an RJ-45 connection. The Fair Play one that we have at school uses a 1/4" Audio cable and our Daktronics shot clock uses a MIDI cable to connect the controller, and from my experience All American Scoreboards use 1/4" Audio as well.

These are three of the major scoreboard companies.
I believe Daktronics uses RJ-45 on some controllers for the Hand Pendant time switch.

It probably will be an audio type cable ( balanced on not ). The Youth Minister just said the supplier told him the cable would be the size of the one you "connect the TV with"! I assume he was not talking about the old 75 ohm twin lead. Nor do I expect it to be coax, which is the way our cable connects to everything. Since the unit comes with the cable configured for whatever is required at each end, my only real concern was the length and size of the conduit and the cable. But I'll still suggest/provide that lubricant!
