Mac Help Viewer
« on: September 10, 2006, 10:17:57 PM »
When I open Mac Help in the Finder, then punch in something I would like it to search for it just gives me a small grey spinning wheel.  It pulls up nothing.

Anyone know a fix?

Ryan

Have you tried repairing permissions and also running everything on Onyx?

Sometimes that gets everything back to normal.  I am assuming that you it once worked!

Good luck
Frances

Ryan,

The usual fix is:

1. Go to ~/Library/Caches and trash com.apple.helpui

2. Go to ~/Library/Preferences and trash the following (you may not have them all):

com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpviewer.plist
com.apple.helpui.plist

3. Log out and log in, or restart.

Yes, Frances, I have repaired permissions that made no difference.

Thanks to Dreambird and Pendragon for fixing the problem.  I tried PD's suggestion first which did fix it.  Then I noticed the link dreambird provided had the same info.
