OT: Way OT! But I think it will inspire you
« on: October 19, 2006, 05:52:46 PM »
WARNING! This may cross the "No religion" line! Mainly because there is a 'religious' song in the background. If you don't want to hear it, turn the sound off. If you feel it should be deleted, just PM me or make that known to any Admin.

You can read the story behind the video at <CNN>. The video is one of several at <YouTube>. The DVD is available from the <IronMan Store>. More info on <CP>.

If you can watch this with a dry eye, you must be blind! ;-)

This is a perfect example of what unconditional love is, IHMO.

Next time you feel you can't go on and your problems are too much to handle, re-view the video. smile.gif

Rather puts a lot of things in perspective, doesn't it.

Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks, Jim, for posting this. And don't worry about the song. Please, everybody, no complaints!

Now I'm going to push the "religion envelope" a little farther myself. This makes me think of a Bible quote: "Greater love hath no man. . ."

While I appreciate your opinion, JW, I'd rather not make any conditions on what is posted. I asked that any one objecting to the ideas expressed to let me or any Admin know, privately if they wanted. There are many great quotes that come to mind, from many sources. I simply wanted to share something we don't see enough of; the often amazing love of a parent for their children.

I certainly had no concept of the meaning of that kind of love when I was younger. I don't think I ever really knew it when I was a young parent. I don't think it is common among all parents; we certainly see just the opposite all too often.

If you see the religious aspects of the story, great. But I am hoping that anyone can understand what the relationship between a parent and their children should be, in a perfect world, IMHO. Frankly, I see this story more as a 'human condition' report than a purely 'religious' one. But if I see religious 'bigotry' sneaking into any comments, I'll yank the whole thread faster than a PC gets a virus! smile.gif

But it also does what kimmer says. Not always what our "me first" generation wants to hear.

Thanks, Jim, for the gentle chiding. I have no intention of testing the limits any further.

Dick,

Thank you so much for sharing this.  I have a handicapped daughter and when she was young we used to put her into the local special olympics games - very inspiring.

It's Jim who shared this, Kathy, much as I'd like to take credit for having found it.

To me, it's nothing less than a thrilling testament to the human spirit (and strength of character)

Thanks, Jim.

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
