Renaming Folders Is Very Slow In New iMac
« on: October 20, 2006, 11:31:13 AM »
The only “nit” I’ve noticed with my new 24” Intel iMac/10.4.8 is that it always takes 4 seconds until I am allowed to rename a folder/file.

The old trick of clicking and promptly dragging the cursor out of text/name box no longer works.

Is there some way to speed things along, perhaps a preference or setting that I am missing?  dntknw.gif

Also, I wonder if the issue, presuming it exists, is with 10.4.8 and Intel, or just with Intel or 10.4.8. (I no longer have an Intel 10.4.7 or earlier volume).  doh.gif

Go into the mouse preferences and speed up the double-click speed.

You can also change the name after a single click by hitting return.

Bingo! Both suggestions work as advertised! cheer.gif clap.gif

Since I use a Kensington track ball, I had completely forgotten about  the click speed. Oh, the shame. doh.gif

Many thanks! salute.gif
