OT...Latest photo of the dog family...
« on: December 07, 2006, 11:34:17 AM »
Some of you may recall the story but I'll repeat it...

I have a female miniature dachshund (ELLIE). A year ago Autumn I found a stray male miniature dachshund half starved and in generally very bad condition(BUDDY).

Took him to the vet, got shots and doggie vitamins and nursed him back to health.

Tried to find the owner to no avail.

Couldn't get him neutered as it wasn't (yet) really my dog. The vet said he was around middleage.

Skipping over the sexy part...ended up with a litter of four miniature dachshunds.
Three males and one female. The female died.

My sister now has Mickey...I have the rest. Mickey visits often.

Ellie is now spayed and the pups will be neutered as soon as their private parts mature a little. I hate having to do this. I'll tell them they're gong to just get their ears cleaned.

I made a lttle doggie door and they're all housebroke (kinda).

I framed this photo I took for her birthday Dec 24th.
Might make a nice Christmas card also.

What a gang!

TO YOU AND YOURS FROM ME AND MINE...
MERRY CHRISTMAS &
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
EVERYONE!

Great family shot there, Gary!! biggrin.gif

And does Butch spend most of his day bossing the other two around?

Rockey: Nahhh, that's not too far down, Mickey. Go ahead . . . jump!  Devilish2.gif

Mickey: Yuh think I should? Yuh think I should?  eek2.gif

Butch: Are you krazy? What'll Grandpa Snuffy say?   doh.gif

Buddy: Aren't they just g-r-e-a-t? So well-behaved.   Look.gif

Ellie: You should keep a closer eye on The Boys, Buddy. I can't do everything around here.   nono.gif

Your dachshunds are wonderful, and they bring back very fond memories.  wub.gif  We have had three successive female miniature dachshunds.  The last two have been brown, but our first one looked a lot like Ellie.  We miss her a lot. tears.gif

I have to admit this is a PhotoShop creation from 4 different photos. They just wouldn't take direction well.

Actually, I was in a position to overhear the conversation, Butch says (loudly)"I hope I get a PONY! ". to which Rockey replies "Yeah, good luck with that". Buddy is singing Christmas carols and Ellie is showing her opinion of his talent. Mickey is just wondering if the sock was washed first.

Dogs are a lot of bother but well worth it. I've never been without one for very long.

Phew!!! I feel better now!  whew.gif  Nice work in Photoshop! salute.gif

My dogs tried to eat the computer when they saw that shot! well, not really... rofl.gif

I haven't been without a dog since 1973... All Shepherds or Shepherd mixes, very rewarding, 3 of them rescue animals, even presided over a litter or two along the way. For us, we love having them in our home, shedding and all!

WOOF-WOOF!  santagrin.gif

We had a Husky/Shepherd cross years ago, smartest dog we ever had.
He used to come to work with me,
(www.whoi.edu), and I would let him out of my car, and leave the back window down so he could get back in if he wanted. He didn't like being in the lab much because it was too warm for him, yet on cold days he appreciated it.
They had a 'bring your dog to work policy', and there were so many dogs around!  Water dishes and boxes of treats everywhere.
The dogs who lived on Martha's Vineyard could go back and forth on the ferry boats if the deckhands knew them, for free, if their owners were known. Many times the dogs would ride unacompanied, they always seemed to know where and why they were going.
Of course this was back in the 70s and 80s, now Falmouth and Woods Hole have leash laws.

I can remember when this place just started out.  Now you see people with the Black Dog apparel everywhere.
Those days were fun.
