iPhone: It’s Also a Hard to Use Cell Phone
« on: January 20, 2007, 08:05:32 PM »
http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/01/19/iphon...use-cell-phone/

Two iPhone YouTube videos. The first one is serious - Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer scoffing at the iPhone in a way that makes it seem like he’s actually a bit nervous about it. He pushes the Motorola Q as a mobile Windows device that he says is a better choice for business users - “It will do Internet.”

The second video is pure humor, and very relevant given all the hype around this yet to be released device. clap.gif  thumbup.gif  toothgrin.gif  yahoo.gif

that was FUNNEE! harhar.gif  clap.gif  biggrin.gif

I do believe that the iPhone will be a hit for Apple Inc.  It's a new toy on the market and people are always craving for the newest gadgets that hit the market shelves.  however, 500 is a bit steep for the average consumer, but once you sign up with a 2 year plan with Cingular, expect it to drop to 300 or 350 for the 8 gig ,model and about 200 to 250 for the 4 gig model iPhone.   eek2.gif

There will be a lot of peole at my school with them, and eventually the school (I hope) will ban cell phones altogether in the hallways and classrooms.  Cell phones have become more of a nusiance than anything else in schools and even in the work place.  I had a job at the school I go to and two people have been told not to come back due to cht-chatting pon their cells and those ear-piece gadgets they have stuck to the side of their heads.   nono.gif

I quit my job because it's extremely annoying to have to do all the work while people talk on their cells and do nothing. Thinking.gif Thr next person that filled my position did the same thing.  She too is quitting because she is tired of doing all the work while the others (that have been told to not come back) where sitting arounf talking on their cell-phones.

I'll get the iPhone, but then I'll also wait fore the rev II model.  I kindof suspect there will be a pouring of complaints from the consumers that probably won't read the instructions and think thet the iPhone will be a razor, condiment dispenser, or a running machine, (watch the uTube video) FUNNEE! clap.gif

I stopped watching Balmer after about thirty seconds; who cares what he thinks about the iPhone?

The second video had me laughing so hard I had tears in me eyes!

Excuse me while I open a beer with my iPhone...

A Fully subsidized $500.00 cellphone was what made my ears perk up. One would think that it would at least have an XM radio option or maybe input jacks for StunGun wires. wink.gif

I’m over the shock which probably hit me harder because I prolonged the purchase of an iPod in quiet hope that the rumors of a iPhone were true. I could justify the price as a Senior Moment, but I couldn’t justify switching to Cingular/AT&T and what is considered around these parts as sub-quality cell service.

Time will tell. If Switching is no longer required in future offerings and software can make up for the loss of the keyboard, I suspect it could be competitive in a business world application. The $500.00 sticker is going to keep it out of the hands of most teens so beyond the AppleCore I see no large market potential in the first year anywho, Hoopla aside. biggrin.gif

If Jobs' ego doesn't get in the way, my guess the iphone will look an work quite differently than what you saw at its announcement. I think the biggest drawback is the "by the weay, there is a cell phone in here". I hope Steve realizes that many customers want an eas-to-use cell phone incorporated into their PDA+iPod. Such things as a keyboard, easy import/export of contacts via the Mac or PC, phone works no matter what mode you are in, touch screen that works with fat fingers like mine, etc, and a full internet/email capability will be very important.

Although I am very happy with Cingular/ATT here in the Portland area, I probably will not buy an iPhone since 1) I do not use an iPod, 2) I do not do video downloads, etc., and I rarelyuse the phoro capability. I am very happy with my Treo 680.

This YouTube video has Phil Schiller demoing the iPhone up close. One thing that didn't occur to me until seeing this is that you will be able to hear the music through the speaker on the phone (probably not great quality, though) which is a first for iPod use.

I love the pinch/spread finger action for resizing stuff. Remember seeing that displayed a while back in a link here at TS about future features in tech. Thinking.gif

Very cool...and very intuitive! I like the position sensor that turns the screen display with the device turning. The touch screen is neat. Loved how he resized that photo of the two boys in the tree. Still a bit too pricey for my blood. Besides I just renewed my Verizon account for 2 yrs last year.  dry.gif

See.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
