I sure do
They contacted me way back in October to ask permission to include it on the disc. Of course I said yes! They even sent me four free copies, so I can have a keepsake of my publication. Those guys are pretty darn cool
P.S. there is an updated version of Maintidget at my website. Updated interface, a check for updates feature, and the ability to launch the Console logs right from the widget. I wonder how much longer it will be until I'm the new CEO at Apple

Now this was shocking ... my machine is on at night and those scripts hadn't been run since this machine went into storage!
I let them run last night. I actually notice a speed diff today.

What version of X are you running,
Kimmer
? They are supposed to be run automatically since 10.4.3, whether you ever turn the machine off or not. And they don't necessarily run at oh-dark-30, either, just whenever the OS notices they need to be run.

I'm running 10.4.8. Do I have to set a pref or something? Or could I have accidentally have turned off the maintenance stuff?

No settings to turn either way. As of .4.3, the tasks became handled by a different mechanism so don't have to have the machine on during those early morning hours ( or even run any third-party utilities, unless you want to ). The OS now recognizes when the time has past and the jobs didn't get run ( assuming they didn't because the machine was OFF or just asleep ). It then runs them in the background just like nothing had happened. But most utilities also run extra stuff that the built-in ones don't do. Cleaning the logs could very well be one of them.

Hi Jim, Thats interesting, so on my G5, with 10.4.8, I dont have to bother with Onyx any more to run those scripts.
Just this one with 10.3.9.
But just might do them both anyway, as I usually do them at the same time.
Thanks for the update,
Jane
