New monitor goes black
« on: February 27, 2007, 10:55:50 AM »
dntknw.gif Recently I got my nice new 30" screen and lately it has been going black.  It comes back in a few seconds but it is annoying, and I worry if it will get worse as time goes on. Is there some setting I need to take care of?

I am still under warranty - should I get Apple care for it?

My first thought was to return it. If it's under warranty, and already causing you grief, chances are it won't get better over time. Take it back!

If it works normally sometimes, but blacks out at other times, I would not suspect a setting as a culprit. It should be set to work out of the box, and if you didn't mess with the settings too much, chances are you didn't cause the problem.

My 2 Cents...
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Run, don't walk back to where you got it ( and don't forget to take it with you ). Most electronics tend to fail within their first 30-60 days of use, but that doesn't mean they don't fail earlier or later. And they seldom "heal". smile.gif Point is, if it's under warranty, why worry about any failures ( occasional or total ), that's why they have warranties. Use it! dntknw.gif

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

I just found out that it is because I don't have the right graphics card.  It is on order and should be in next week. It will have enough power to keep the screen "alive".

thanx.gif  for your input.

Maybe it would help if you turned off all other electrical equipment in the house? dntknw.gif
