Multitude of problems
« on: March 05, 2007, 09:58:09 AM »
Dual 867 MHZ Power PC G4/ 1 MB L3 cache per processor/ memory 768 MB
DDR SDRAM/ OSX 10.3.9/ HD 79.01 GB available/ HD2 34.12 GB available/
replaced battery-3.6V Lithium 850mAh size 1/2 "AA"

I have a problem that my current tech support can't seem to locate.- I
am looking for help before my mac goes bye bye. My clock won't work, can't print pdf files, can't print from photoshop, can't  screen save, No through aaaw menu. Type defaults to strange face when printing in "in design".-Ken

I suggested the PRAM battery, but from his answer you can see he's done that.

My next thoughts

Corrupt OS 9 font?
Repair permissions, but it sounds as he knows enough to do that.

What do you all think?

No, I don't know what
QUOTE
No through aaaw menu.
means.
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Heck of a way to do this. Corrupt Preferences?   huh.gif

Should maybe do a Archive and Install.

Has he tried to create a new user to see if it still happens?

If so, then an archive and install would probably be the best bet.

Corrupt fonts in 9 can cause problems, too but I doubt it would affect the clock, etc.

More thoughts:

Try removing the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist from the ~Library/Preferences Folder.

Also, it may sound weird but is he using a wireless mouse? or keyboard? Can he try using only Apple peripherals? And unplug all peripherals besides mouse and keyboard.
