It's "her" way of telling us to slow down! If you do that, you're fine. It took me twice as long to get home tonight, and it was just a light snow - but, it was enough to make the roads slippery - heck, rain will do that!

I'm amazed at people who follow the car in front of theirs just as closely as if the pavement were dry as a bone. I guess if you're trying to meet new people.... dntknw.gif

I'm amazed by how many people who live in snow country, but don't understand how to and when to use their brakes on bad roads.

I was following someone yesterday who eased on their brakes, then hit them harder, then locked them right up and started sliding sideways.  Almost caused a pile up.  luckily there was a wide shoulder there and i had space to go around.

Thought we do drive cars here, the biggest peril is getting hit by a speeding skidoo (snowmobile in the States).  The highest speed we'll get up to here is about 40 mph in a car.

Exactly where is "up here"?

40 mph?

Don't you use kilometers "up there"?  toothgrin.gif

Bad weather anywhere in the NE of our continent right now.
I dont drive anywhere when it gets bad if I can possibly avoid it.

But I do agree, we have had so darn many fatal accidents everywhere. Interestingly most of these accidents are NOT related to weather conditions.
Speed is number one condition. And impaired driving is another.  Its the 'nut behind the wheel', not mechanical failure nor weather.

I am not going to quote statistics here, as we all know them, cars and carnage are the foremost reason for young people to die. Well not only young, a middle aged woman was hit from behind and forced out onto a main road, whereby she was hit and killed yesterday.
Its sad, but car travel wins for deaths.  Yes, right in our little tiny town too!
Look at the statistics for your local high school, its right there on top.
