Suddenly, the board does not remember me from one session to the next. I have not changed my TS profile, if that would even matter. Each time I log back in, the box to "remember me" is checked.

Heck, the computer at the motel in Branson even remembered me for up to 24 hours. They must have cleared the browser's history and cookies at least once a day.

I'm at a loss to explain why logging in each session is required. Has the board software changed?

Suddenly, TS opens a new window when I click on the 'forums' link when entering TS. This started a couple of days ago on my wife's IBook (10.3.9) but just today on my G5 iMac (10.4.9). (Both running Safari, only browser on either machine.)

Not sure why... have not made any "adjustments' to either in the past couple of weeks..... no updates, changes to preferences, or other such 'disruptive' additions...

Any applicable thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Which machine did you use to log in last? When was the last time you used used you G5 iMac?

I had to do some cookie path adjusting 'bout a week ago. And I've caused a grief of problems.

That new window opening from the main page is my doing. I've been reviewing some of the settings on the site and adding new stuff (check out the Tips/FAQ link in the bar above-not all links done yet but some new pages of info). I thought that certain pages should open a new window in order to keep the original page available for new visitors so they could more easily navigate the site.

Most regular members don't come in via the home page and link directly to the forum page. You will notice that it is part of the IPB software that clicking a link posted on a thread opens a new window and keeps your TS page alive underneath. I figured that would be a valuable attribute to newer members entering from the front page.

command-clicking a link will usually create a new tab instead of a new window in a good browser. Unless it's done via javascript, then all bets are off.

Cookies are on your computer, not the server. The site has control of when and what to read/write/delete, but only on your computer. Not to deny that there may be a Windows 'feature' that might allow that to happen on a PD.

Checking your cookies is pretty straight forward on a good browser, it should allow you to find all of a particular site/domain ( techsuvivors.net ) and delete that found set. If there is a corrupted cookie, the best way to correct it is to simply trash it. Most cookie writing scripts have very little error correction capabilities. Just start over.

Me too, it just happens randomly, just once in a while.
But my name and password are there, so I just hit log in, and it logs me back in.
The why of it, I have not a clue. As its the only forum that does this to my Macs.
