I have been thinking about getting a new cell phone.  One of our kids just got a nice camera phone, (Motorola I think), and since she takes it everywhere with her, its like having your camera with you too.
So when I look back at the photo-ops that Ive missed cause I didnt have the camera in my pocket, I think that it would be nice.

Question one, Reading Walter Mossbergs latest article on cam phones, there are ones you just plug into your Mac and they act just like a real camera, transfer is easy.
But a lot of the cam phones,  you have to upload thru the phone to your ISP(or whatever I would label the carrier- ours is Cingular, PSP), and that gets expensive.
I would like to be able to pop the USB right in to the Mac.

I think that the new iPhones will have that ability.
So has anybody thought about this, or do you already have a camera phone that will allow this connection?
And shall I wait for the iPhone, even tho I would love to have a cam phone this summer.

I heard Andy Ihnatko talk about it. He said that iPhone photos were actually showing up on Flickr. Typing in a camera type in the search box will return photos taken with specific cameras, since that info is always part of a digital photo.

Apple has since taken down every single photo taken with the iPhone.

You can download photos from Motorola phones with Bluetooth through OBEX File Transfer Protocol on the phone and mac. Connect to the phone using Bluetooth on your Mac by clicking Browse Device in the Bluetooth menu on the top menu bar (proper name?). Then select your phone, pair it, connect to it, and open the Pictures folder.

You can also download pictures to your phone, and download your videos from your phone to your computer as well.

And if you want to make your own ringtone (optimal size for phone 200kb at 40-60kbps mono), you can upload it to your phone using this method.

no hard feelings :-D

what i meant, and i should have made it more clearer,  is that it was pointless for Apple to take down the photos taken with the iPhone, since everyone knows that Apple has working prototypes out that all of their "head-honchos" are carrying around, and also because someone who downloaded them to their computer will most likely just re-upload them back onto the internet.

I found the article very interesting, however.

I tend to agree with Brian Chen's analysis - I have two very good digital cams and never use my RAZR for photos, we have an iPod, though it recently went into HD death throes and will be replaced - with another iPod - and the iPhone & associated data plan is just too darned expensive! Like Chen, I also can't see myself cruising the internet when away from my computer. However, never say never...

Pretty funny that in Canada, the iPhone is available through one of the best wireless carriers for coverage, while in the US, Apple has seen fit to hook up with what many consider to be one of the WORST wireless carriers. (Can I be permitted a small   here??)

Jane we use Bluetooth quite frequently to move files from phone to iTunes or iPhoto or other applications. It's slower than other vehicles like USB1-2 on a hardwire, but it works flawlessly so far. Just place the phone in front of the computer, set for upload and walk to your icebox or wetbar, grab a cold one, when you return the files are moved.

Ive never used Bluetooth?  
All I want to do is use the cell phone and use the camera for quick photos when I might not be toting my regular cam.
And to be able to USB, as we do with our card readers.
Not wanting to transmit anything, if thats what that does.. Just want to use it as a phone and a camera.

Why do I have to log in every time I view TS?
