amen to that
what happened to the phone steve was using on stage?
that seemed to work pretty flawlessly
or was it just a video recording and the phone was a prop?

Actually yes..
According to David Pogue, who actually got to play with one after the Keynote...  Many of the icons on the demo model were Jpegs.
