Al, Apple hasn't ever given a discount for major OS upgrades. At least not in this century.  wink.gif

Perhaps not. Since your wife works for UH and you have a school aged child, you may have paid the Student/Educator price.

AFAIK, a student/educator price for Leopard has yet to be announced. Still, I think it is likely.

Al, I didn't even pay full price for OS9! I've yet to fork over the cash for X and all the other software upgrades I will need. It's people like you who feed the obsolescense frenzy! wink.gif

But hey, thanks for being a Leader. That's how they find the bugs and make the next "dot" (or "point"). smile.gif

...'cause you know, the early performance of Leopard is bound to be spotty. (I had to, sorry, k?)

Was watching the keynotes on Leopard.  Looks cool.  But, as Harv said... I'll probably check the education discount.

LOL Gregg, I was being sarcastic as well.  I really don't get things first hand.  I would like to wait a while until the first few updates come out.  But, you know.... I do have a spare partition.... doh.gif

I got a lucky break as I will be on a university faculty when OS 10.5 comes out. I don't know what the student/educator discount is but, knowing Apple it won't be much.

I've generally found the discount to be quite comparable to that offered by Mac Mall and other catalog houses. But, being close to an Apple Store makes buying there my preference due to additional service being available, such as transferring files.

Well, you might try using the "Home" version instead "Enterprise" version, but the price difference is negligible. tongue.gif

What's really interesting at Tom's link is that the OSX family pack is the third largest selling software.  smile.gif
