Odd document in startup items list
« on: June 22, 2007, 11:58:55 PM »
Recently I noticed it taking a bit longer for my Mac to start up once it reached the desktop pic stage. I went into Accounts and found this in my startup items list:

/usr/share/man/man1/perlsec.1

It is a document that apparently explains the perl security options (or something like that).

Anyway, how the heck did it end up in my startup items list and would there possibly be any reason for it to be there?

Haven't removed it yet.  Thinking.gif

I don't see it in my OS 10.3.9 system. (account)
the file (perlsec.1) is well distributed. http://www.osxfaq.com/man/1/perlsec.ws
you have a lot of perl in your Mac

drive>system>Library>perl

or search 5.8.1

is (taintedness) a new word? toothgrin.gif

Are you using any New utility software that might insert this file into your startup folder?

I had never seen it there before, either.  I think it is the page from the Unix manual that explains its use while in Terminal but why it shows up there I haven't a clue.

Yeah, I got  a laugh out of 'taint checks' myself.  smile.gif

No, nothing new that could possibly be related. huh.gif
