MS releases Remote Desktop Connection 2 (Beta)

Microsoft has released Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 (Beta). Remote Desktop Connection allows users to connect to a Windows-based computer and work with programs and files from Mac. This is the first Universal Binary release of Remote Desktop Connection.

Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 (Beta) includes the following new features:
  • Universal Binary
  • Remote Desktop Protocol 6.0
    Provides better compatibility with Windows Vista, improved security features, and many other improvements.
  • Multiple Sessions
    Lets you connect to multiple Windows-based computers at the same time.
  • Improved User Experience
  • Improved Customization Options
  • Dynamic Screen Resizing
  • Improved Printing Support


Currently, Remote Desktop Connection is in Beta and is only available in English and supports only US English keyboards. This beta version expires on 31st March 2008.

Remote Desktop Connection 2.0 Beta requires:
Intel Core processor, 500 MHz or faster PowerPC G4, or PowerPC G5.
Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later
128 MB of RAM
and local area network.

To connect to a Windows-based computer, you must have network access and permissions to connect to a Windows-based computer that is running Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Services. Following Windows are supported: Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise, Ultimate), Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003.
