What is Firefox writing???
« on: August 21, 2007, 04:04:56 AM »
The last two days, I can no longer use Firefox.  Within a minute or two, there is a great deal of hard drive noise, like something being written and written to the hard drive, then the spinning wheel.

I thought it was the hard drive itself-and well may be-but FF is the only program that consistently calls up the behavior.  Ran Disk Warrior, says I'm A OK.  Dumped FF's cache, funnily enough, I now have a folder called Cache.Trash with a subfolder Trash which is empty.

10.3.9 on the Cube, 768 ram, Firefox only program open when it happens.  I'd tell you what Activity Monitor saysif there wasn't so much room on the head of the pin....  dry.gif

Stranger and Stranger..... now, upon restart of FF, the Cache.Trash folder is gone, along with the Cache folder, and without meaning to, I cleared the exceptions list, I have it set to accept cookies and keep until I close FF.

But it is now writing again, and again and again.

Halfway down the page you'll see some disk usage issues, some related to Google

Disk Warrior says all is fine.  Disk Utility says all is fine.  Tech Tool says there are bad blocks.

I say....might be time for a new drive, as I'm not trusting this.

The I/O error makes me think TechTool is right.
