I think "some" of the earlier MAC OS's had a similar calculator in the Apple Menu!

I just looked on this one, Panther doesnt have it, its just the Tiger machines.  I didnt realize that.
Yes, there was another one, another older graphing calculator that we all downloaded, but that one went with my older Mac up to Boston for my grandkids.
I cant remember the name of it, but it was easier to use than this built in to Tiger one.

Now that you mention it, there was a Graphing Calculator in OS8 I think. I probably have it somewhere. :search:

Now that you mention it, there was a Graphing Calculator in OS8 I think. I probably have it somewhere. :search:

I just checked my OS 9.2.2 & yes, there is a Graphing Calculator. I've never used it & can't think of a need for it now. Probably could have used it during my engineering studies in college, however, at that time we only had two math aids - a digital calculator consisting of our hands/fingers (get it? digits) & a slide rule, along with graph paper and a pencil. Do any of you younger Mac users know what a slide rule is?

I learned how to use the sliderule back in the 1970's but I can't say that I ever was proficient!  I welcome anything that makes it easier for my poor brain to cope with things.

I still have my slide rule and my husband has his, both are upstairs in the attic somewhere in a box.  We are saving a lot of this old stuff for our grandkids sometime when they will be interested in such things.

A slide rule was required at my High School (Brooklyn Technical High School) in 1963.

Spent one summer during college working in a plastics factory. One of the things we assembled and boxed was an elaborate slide rule. The floor manager gave me one when I left to go back to college at the end of summer. Never used it.

I guess I'm not one of the younger members.

We were required to have a slide rule in our high school chemistry class. The next year, I took physics. Our teacher had a new fangled HP calculator, but they were too expensive for most of our parents, and I'm not sure we would have been allowed to use one. I still have a slide rule in a box somewhere, but I doubt I would be able to use it after all these years. Well, a few years anyway...

What's this "slide rule" you old people keep talking about? Do you those usually yellow, 12' and longer, rulers that 'slide' back into a little box when you release the lock? I think they actually roll up inside that little box thing...but the 'rule' does look like it's 'sliding' along the floor...I could see how your aging eyes might fool you into calling it a 'slide rule'. But I think you really all should "get out more!" There are all kinds of new gadgets out there! I even saw a car go by with hubcaps rotating backwards! And that's when it was stopped at a light! What'll they thing of next?! (and WHY!)
